We at Cenovus endeavor to look for new ideas and new approaches. One of those is the Wedge Well technology that we are using.

We're sitting on a production pad that produces heavy oil. The spacing on these production wells is roughly 100 metres and over a period of time, these wells will grow into one another, overlap. Once they do that, there is a wedge left in between those wells.

The wedge well is a well that we will drill in that wedge with a pump to bring that oil to surface.

Less steam, less water to make the steam, less emissions to produce the steam and a smaller footprint drilling on existing well pads. It's a plus all the way around.
