Fishing Industry

The offshore petroleum industry is committed to developing oil and gas resources with minimal impact on the marine environment and by respecting other ocean users.

The Issue: Maintaining Communication to Understand Shared Concerns

Both the offshore petroleum and fishing industries operate in the same region, creating concerns that our industry may negatively impact fishery livelihoods and habitats.

What We’re Doing: Creating Opportunities to Work Together

Listening and responding to concerns

We are working closely with the fishing industry to listen to and understand their concerns. We value our relationship with this industry in Atlantic Canada and will continue to work together for the benefit of both industries and the protection of the marine environment.

Creating One Ocean

The petroleum industry of Newfoundland and Labrador partnered with the fishing industry to establish One Ocean, an organization created to promote mutual understanding between these two vital industries and their common marine environment.
