The variability in GHG emissions depends primarily on what is being produced. Overall life cycle GHG emissions of oil sands are comparable to conventional oil. The industry is regulated by the Province. The oil sands industry continues to reduce GHG emission intensity through continual advancements in technology and energy efficiency.
