Abstract 

Resource material intended to assist operators in developing their own specific procedures for prevention and safe handling of hydrates, supplementing provincial regulatory and manufacturer requirements. Briefly identifies applicable Alberta regulations, discusses the nature and formation of hydrates, hydrate detection, hydrates in pipelines, hydrate prevention equipment, hydrate removal options, and the effect of reservoir depletion on hydrates.
