About Alex
Alex Fritsche is CAPP’s Chief Economist with responsibility for CAPP’s data strategy and all analytical research products. CAPP’s research and data function is a core plank in the Board’s strategy to re-establish CAPP as a non-partisan evidence-based research advocacy organization and authoritative resource on energy industrial policy.
Alex has over 20 years of experience in economic forecasting, modelling, and analysis. He has deep knowledge of the oil and gas sector and the role it plays in the Canadian economy. In his most recent role as Regional Director (Calgary) with the Bank of Canada, Alex served as the go-to expert on energy, with an analytical focus on the energy sector in both Canada and the United States. After completing his Bachelor of Arts, Honors Diploma in Economics and Master of Arts, Economics at Western University, Alex joined the Conference Board of Canada as a Research Associate. He joined the Bank of Canada in Calgary as a Senior Economist and quickly rose to the position of Regional Director. Alex completed his Executive MBA at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. In addition, Alex is fully functional in English and French.
