CAPP President & CEO, Lisa Baiton had the honour of providing the opening keynote address at G7 Business Leaders (B7) Conference, as part of the G7 Energy and Environment Ministerial yesterday in Toronto:
“For Canada, the new global order is not an abstract debate. It is an urgent question: how should a resource rich and trade-dependent nation position itself in a world where economic FORCE — not market fairness — is setting the rules. Frankly, growing our role as a global energy supplier is not just an opportunity for Canada, it is an obligation, and one we are not fully living up to… in a world where some superpowers are weaponizing their energy abundance and looking for dominance, Canada can lead with reliability, trust, and responsibility. The benefits to Canadians AND to our allies are profound. Increasing our global market share and diversifying energy exports strengthens our economic sovereignty and ensures full value for our resources while increasing the energy security of our trading partners and reducing their reliance on less stable regimes. We should strive to make Canadian oil and natural gas a strategic part of every one of our allies’ energy portfolios.”
