CAPP Submission on Expert Panel Recommendations
May 05, 2017
Given the activities undertaken by CAPP member companies, CAPP has a significant interest in the review of the Environmental Assessment (EA) processes in Canada.
CAPP’s submission in response to the Panel’s report represents our position in relation to key areas and identifies areas that warrant further discussion. Enclosed is CAPP’s submission commenting on the Panel report as well as CAPP’s written submission to the Panel which provides more comprehensive commentary from our members of the Panel’s review scope. Both documents were developed through engagement with our members and informed by an international review of four countries’ EA processes, conducted by WorelyParsons Canada.
CAPP members understand the importance of maintaining public trust and want to ensure that the environmental regulatory review process fosters both public and investor confidence. Our relationships with Indigenous groups, local communities, Canadians and other industries are critical to our success. As such, we wish to emphasize the importance of building and maintaining regulatory processes that provide certainty and consistency for all parties involved.
